- Famous for
- Being the interpreter of the States of Holland. He became well-known for his translating and responses to the different letters of the Moslem princes of Asia and Africa. He had his own in-house printing press where he produced his own course materials. His best known work is his Arabic grammar, which saw a number of editions between 1613 and 1829.
