Prof. Niels Blokker and Dr. Jorrit Rijpma speak at conference “The evolution of the law of international organizations”
On 18-19 June, an international conference took place at the Italian Università del Sannio te Beneventoon on the evolution of the law of international organizations.
Prof. Niels Blokker, co-author of the standard work "International Institutional Law: unity within diversity" gave an introductory lecture summarizing the various stages in the evolution of this area of law.
Besides the International Public Law department, the Europa Institute was also represented. Dr. Jorrit Rijpma talked about international relations of the EU agencies and the problems that arise in the area of the division of competences and democratic monitoring within the EU.
The conference was held in Italian, French and English with speakers coming from the United States, France, Italy and Spain. They talked on various issues related to the law of international organizations. Not just the classic issues such as succession and liability, but also the representation of emerging economies, gender diversity and the Financial crisis.
